You know the job. The deck is done, and then someone says the brand colors changed, or the project name is new, or slide 14 still shows last quarter's numbers. You click through 30 slides and fix the same thing 30 times. Google just made this part shorter: you can now **edit a whole deck with Gemini in Google Slides** from one prompt.

## What is new in Gemini in Google Slides

Before, Gemini in Slides was mostly for making new slides. Since October 29, it can also change many slides at once, or the full presentation. You write one request in the Ask Gemini side panel. Gemini decides which slides need a change, edits the real slides (not pictures of slides), and then shows a short summary of what it did.

Google's [official announcement](https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2026/10/edit-entire-presentations-with-gemini-in-Google-Slides.html) gives examples like matching the style of another file, adding details from a reference document, merging a few slides into one, and making all titles the same font size and color. The edits count as your own edits, so normal undo and version history work.

## Who it helps

**A marketing coordinator in a small company.** After a rebrand you have ten old sales and event decks with the wrong fonts and colors. Restyling them by hand takes a full day. Now you can point Gemini at the new template and ask it to match it.

**A project manager with a monthly status deck.** The structure is the same every month, only the facts change. You can give Gemini the new status doc and ask it to update the deck, then review the changes instead of retyping them.

## How people are using it so far

It is only a few days old, and I did not find real user stories yet. Early write ups, like the [Marketing with AI roundup](https://getmarketingwithai.substack.com/p/marketing-with-ai-weekly-roundup-245), point at the same boring work: renaming a campaign across a long deck, moving a quarterly deck to the next quarter, and moving old decks to a new template. That matches my experience. The first draft is rarely the slow part. The rework is.

## How to edit a whole deck with Gemini

1. Open the deck in Google Slides on your computer. It is desktop only for now.
2. Make a copy first, so you have a clean version to compare.
3. Click **Ask Gemini** in the top right corner.
4. Write one clear request. For example:

```
Update this whole presentation to match the style of the deck "Brand template 2027".
Use its fonts, colors and title sizes on every slide.
Do not change any numbers, names or dates.
At the end, list every slide you changed and what you changed.
```

5. Read the summary in the side panel, then click through every slide yourself. Use version history if something went wrong.

## The honest part

You need a paid plan: Google AI Pro or Ultra for personal accounts, or Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard or Enterprise Plus. Free personal accounts are not on the list. It is English only at launch, so for a German deck here in Germany, expect weak or no results. The rollout is slow and can take more than 15 days, so you may not see it yet. Workspace users get higher limits only until at least December 1, then normal per user limits apply. And Google's own help page says Gemini may not manage every request, so always check the numbers.
