Learning a new language is hard, but it's worth it. When I decided to learn German, I knew I needed something that would keep me motivated and make the process fun. That's when I found "Nicos Weg", and it changed the way I learned.

## What is "Nicos Weg"?

"Nicos Weg" is a free German course from Deutsche Welle (DW), built around a video series. It follows Nico, a young man from Spain who arrives in Germany and has to deal with the same everyday situations every learner faces. Because it's a story, it's entertaining, and you learn without feeling like you are studying.

## Repetition and vocabulary

Watching "Nicos Weg" was great, but I quickly realized that watching was not enough. I needed to understand and remember the words used in the episodes. So I created my "Nicos Weg Vocabulary File".

The file is a list of the words and phrases used in the series, with definitions, example sentences, and context, so you understand and remember each one. I built it while watching, pausing and rewinding again and again to catch every word.

## Sample words from the file

Here are a few examples:

- **der Anfang (beginning)**: "Der Anfang ist immer schwer." (The beginning is always hard.)
- **die Herausforderung (challenge)**: "Das Lernen einer neuen Sprache ist eine große Herausforderung." (Learning a new language is a big challenge.)
- **sich erinnern (to remember)**: "Ich erinnere mich an meine erste Deutschstunde." (I remember my first German lesson.)
- **das Erlebnis (experience)**: "Der Film war ein tolles Erlebnis." (The movie was a great experience.)
- **die Geduld (patience)**: "Man braucht viel Geduld, um eine neue Sprache zu lernen." (You need a lot of patience to learn a new language.)

## How to use Nicos Weg to learn German

- **Understand more**: I studied the vocabulary before watching a scene again, so I understood the dialogue and didn't stop every few seconds to look up a word.
- **Remember more**: Repetition is everything in language learning. Seeing the same words again and again in different situations made them stick.
- **Learn in context**: The file doesn't just list words. It shows how they are used in real conversations, so you learn the meaning and the correct usage.
- **Gain confidence**: As my vocabulary grew, so did my confidence. I felt more comfortable building sentences and talking with native speakers.

## Watch it more than once

With the vocabulary file next to me, I watched the episodes several times. Every time, I noticed details and cultural references I had missed before. The story plus focused vocabulary work made German feel reachable.

## Why get the vocabulary file?

If you are serious about learning German, the file can save you a lot of time:

- **Complete**: The words and phrases from the series, with definitions and context.
- **Easy to use**: It works whether you are a beginner or want to improve what you already know.
- **Tested**: It's the exact method I used myself.

## Ready?

Learning German doesn't have to be scary. With the right resources and some dedication, you can get there. The vocabulary file played a big role in my own progress, and I'm sure it can help you too.
